The Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association is pleased to report that the umbrella Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association has received a $4,000 grant from the Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation to support the Horsemen U continuing education platform.

TERF, based in West. Chester, Pa., awarded more than $60,000 in education grants in 2025. TERF provides scholarships to students pursuing veterinary careers, educates racing stakeholders impacting the Thoroughbred industry, and supports equine research with a priority to making racing safer.

“We are grateful for our trustees’ financial support and guidance and their cohesion to the philosophy of our mission to make racing safer,” said Dr. James Orsini, who co-chairs TERF with fellow veterinarian Dr. Kathleen Anderson. “We are very fortunate to be able to provide continuous educational and scholarship support for the very students and organizations who represent the best for success in the Thoroughbred industry.”

Horsemen U (www.HorsemenU.com) was created by the MTHA, New York THA and California Thoroughbred Trainers to assist horsemen in complying with continuing education regulations for trainers and assistant trainers. The website provides CE courses and, upon completion of a webinar and a brief quiz, a certificate of completion with the number of CE hours earned for each course. Free registration for a Horsemen U account is available at the website.
