The Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association will continue the tradition of offering free dinners prepared by the Paz family at the Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Course track kitchens on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23.
Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and multiple side dishes will be served as usual. Last year, pumpkin and apple pies donated by the Maryland Jockey Club were distributed at the track kitchens on Thanksgiving Day.
Miguel Paz noted that hours for distribution of dinners will be 6 a.m.-3 p.m. at Laurel and 6 a.m.-1 p.m. at Pimlico. There will be live racing at Laurel that day with first post set for 11:25 p.m.

The MTHA will hold a public meeting Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 11 a.m. Eastern Time via Zoom to discuss a proposed digital auction process for horses receiving two or more claims in a claiming race.

An October 7 Daily Record article about proposed Maryland Racing Commission regulations has generated questions about increased penalties, medication enforcement and the state’s investment in Thoroughbred racing.
