TMJC Announces Partnership with Oak View Group to Elevate Pimlico and Preakness Stakes

The Maryland Jockey Club has announced a new multi-year partnership with Oak View Group (OVG) aimed at enhancing sponsorship development and elevating the future of Pimlico Race Course and the iconic Preakness Stakes.
Under the agreement, OVG Global Partnerships will lead the development and sales of brand partnerships for Pimlico Race Course when it reopens in 2027 following its ongoing redevelopment. This marks the first time OVG will represent a U.S. horse racing property, expanding its global portfolio into one of the sport’s most historic and recognizable events.
The Preakness Stakes, the second jewel of racing’s Triple Crown, continues to attract national and international attention, making it a premier platform for sponsorship, hospitality, and brand activation. Through this partnership, OVG will work closely with Pimlico leadership to create innovative opportunities that enhance the fan experience while driving long-term commercial growth.
“This partnership brings an unmatched level of global expertise to Pimlico and the Preakness,” said Bill Knauf, President and General Manager of the Maryland Jockey Club. “As we invest in the future of this historic venue, OVG’s ability to connect world-class brands with one of sport’s most celebrated events will help ensure the Preakness remains a premier destination.”
OVG’s involvement builds on its growing footprint in Baltimore, highlighted by its $250 million redevelopment of CFG Bank Arena, which has reestablished itself as a leading East Coast destination for major events.
“We believe deeply in Baltimore and its future,” said Dan Griffis. “Pimlico and the Preakness represent a globally significant platform, and with the ongoing renovations, the venue is poised to reemerge on the world stage.”
The partnership is expected to unlock new opportunities for premium sponsorships, immersive brand activations, enhanced hospitality offerings, and year-round engagement tied to Pimlico Race Course.
Founded in 2015, Oak View Group’s Global Partnerships division has generated more than $6.8 billion in partnership revenue across hundreds of brands, reinforcing its position as a global leader in sponsorship strategy and execution.
As Pimlico undergoes its transformation, this collaboration positions Maryland racing to capitalize on renewed momentum, ensuring that the Preakness Stakes continues to grow as a world-class sporting and entertainment event.
