Tickets available for TERF Soiree for Safety fundraiser June 3 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Tuesday, May 26, 2026

The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) is set to hold its third annual Soiree for Safety from which all proceeds support TERF’s mission of promoting Thoroughbred health, welfare, and racing safety.

The fundraiser will be held Wednesday, June 3, from 5-7 p.m. at the Adelphi Hotel, 365 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Since TERF’s founding in 2010, the 501(c)(3) organization has awarded more than 100 grants totaling more than $1 million for educational programs, student scholarships, and equine research projects.

This year’s Soiree for Safety will include a presentation with TERF research grant recipient Dr. Kallie J. Hobbs, Assistant Professor of Large Animal Internal Medicine at Texas A&M University. “The TERF grant was an instrumental part in the research we have done," Hobbs said. "It has also helped expand hemoperfusion as an option for horses as it has been adopted now by Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, Cornell University, Tufts University, and Purdue University.”

Additional remarks will be provided by the following TERF grantees: Belmont Child Care Association, University of Pennsylvania veterinary students, and Wilson College veterinary technician students. Attendees will also learn more about the upcoming TERF-sponsored Equine Eyes Exhibit at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs from July 21-23, 2026.

The June 3 Soiree for Safety will feature a silent auction with premium items such as:

• Tickets to the 2027 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course
• Pickleball with retired Venezuelan jockey and American Thoroughbred Horse Racing Hall of Fame member Ramon Dominguez
• Maryland Million Day tickets
• Brookledge Horse Transportation voucher
• Ian McKinlay, known as "Farrier to the Stars" in the horseracing industry, glue-on shoes package
• Diagnostic imaging packages with Cornell Ruffian Equine Hospital, University of Pennsylvania New Bolton Center and Rood & Riddle Saratoga Equine Hospital
• Many other sports memorabilia and experiences.

All silent auction items will be posted on the TERF website the last week of May. Donations, if you unable to attend the event, can be made on the TERF website.
