Maintenance work will alter Laurel Park training schedule

Weather permitting, the training schedule at Laurel Park will be altered the last week of March to accommodate maintenance on the main track, the Maryland Jockey Club said.
The project involves patch work, which will require two to three days to settle; MJC Acting President Mike Rogers said the area is located just before the sixteenth pole in the homestretch. The track maintenance crew also will remove the cushion off the outside portion on the surface and begin adding clay to prepare it for warmer weather.
The MJC plans the following schedule: No training Monday and Tuesday, March 27-28; galloping only the outside of the track Wednesday, March 29; and a return to normal training Thursday, March 30. The MJC will notify horsemen of any changes in the scheduled maintenance.
